Mahito

Mahito

Mahito exists because people are cruel to each other, and it finds that endlessly funny. Its Idle Transfiguration turns a single touch into a philosophy - reshaping souls the way a sculptor works clay, and getting stronger with every shape it tries. Sorcerers who’ve fought it agree on one thing: never let it touch you twice.

Traits

Cursed Manifestation. Only creatures that can sense cursed energy can perceive or harm Mahito. It is exorcised when reduced to 0 hit points.

Reinforcement. While it has cursed energy remaining, Mahito adds +4 to its AC, saving throws, and damage rolls.

Idle Transfiguration. Whenever Mahito hits with Soul Touch, it deals an extra 4d6 necrotic damage. If this damage reduces a creature to 0 hit points, the creature dies and rises as a mindless undead thrall under Mahito’s control instead of dying outright, unless it is a construct.

Genuine Sadism. Whenever Mahito deals damage to a frightened creature, it regains hit points equal to half the damage dealt.

Actions

Multiattack. Mahito makes two Soul Touch attacks.

Soul Touch. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) necrotic damage (see Idle Transfiguration above). A construct is immune to this damage.

Soul Multiplicity (5 Cursed Energy). Mahito unleashes a barrage of transfigured matter in a line 60 feet long and 5 feet wide. Each creature there makes a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 33 (6d8 + 6) necrotic damage on a failure, or half as much on a success.

Reactions

Domain Expansion: Self-Embodiment of Perfection (20 Cursed Energy). In response to being in danger of losing a fight, Mahito expands a domain of writhing body parts in a 60-foot radius for 1 minute (see Domain Expansion in Intricacies of Sorcery). While it is open, Mahito’s techniques are sure hit against creatures inside, and its Soul Touch deals its necrotic damage twice.
